.
Practical experience in all aspects of arboriculture is essential. Grounds Maintenance experience is desirable, previous experience in working on sports grounds and in a school environment is also an advantage.
It is essential the applicant has NPTC Certification to CS30, CS31, CS38, CS39.
Applicants must hold a full driving licence and the ability to tow trailers is desirable.
The duties of the post will include:
All aspects of arboriculture, including dismantling, crown reductions, pollarding, felling etc.
Tree inspections and report writing including risk assessments.
Sports Pitch Marking.
Grass Cutting.
Hedge Cutting.
Weed Spraying.
Please note successful applicants will be required to have a Criminal Records Bureau enhanced disclosure.

Climber/Driver (Vacancy ID: 1201-6) -
Our client is an East London/Essex local authority. They have two directly employed tree teams and due to an increase in their work load they require an additional climber to work on one of the gangs. This role will involve undertaking pruning and dismantling of the council's trees as part of a tree gang. The work is varied involving work to housing, street school and park trees - both re-active and programmed. Candidates must have NPTC CS39, a driving licence (ideally pre 97) and previous climbing experience. In return a pay rate of £8.50 to £11.00PH will be offered, plus 28 days annual leave and training. For more experienced candidates a higher rate wil be considered. There is also the opportunity to work over time at enhanced rates on a regular basis. The vacancy is available immediately and local accommodation is available at reasonable cost if people are not from this area.

Our client is a north midlands borough council. Their current Tree Officer is leaving at the end of January 2012 and they are looking to get an immediate temporary replacement for a minimum period of three months. The position involves management of the council's own tree stock through a direct tree gang and external contractors and providing technical advice to other council departments including planning. Candidates will be expected to be qualified to ND arb or equivalent, have some technical experience and be familiar with GIS software. Ideally you will be available from mid January to facilitate a hand over with the current Arboricultural Officer. The temporary post holder will be able to apply for the permanent position when it is advertised and will have the advantage of knowing the council's current sytems and procedures. Pay will range from £10PH to £12.25PH PAYE for a thirty seven hour week. There is flexible working and 28 days paid annual leave.

Our client is a subsidiary of a large multi-service provider. Specialising in green services they provide both arboricultural consultancy and contracting services to large commercial and public sector clients They have term contracts through out the UK, including all areas of London. They currently have a client who requires a survey of housing trees in south London. This will involve the usual plottin, VTA and specification of remedial works using a hand held pc and tree management software.
The work will be paid on a rate per tree basis at about Ł1.10 per tree, with a daily target of 125-175 trees. The area is compact and with reasonably high tree densities this should be readily achieveable. Candidates must have a minimum of an ND in Arb, good VTA and tree identification skills and be fully computer literate. Own transport is not necessary.
The survey is due to commence in Janaury 2012 and will involve 3000 trees initially.

They have become Arb Approved contractors in recent years and are ambitious to continue to grow the company. With a reputation for quality and the ability to undertake technically complex jobs they are looking to employ a highly competent Lead Climber. The role will involve running a team of upto three arborists on a wide range of work. As well as routine pruning and felling it can also include difficult dismantling work, usually requiring rigging and occasionally a crane. Candidates must therefore be proficient climbers with experience of rigging techniques. Having worked as a climber for several years you will have previously worked a a lead climber and will hold a range of NPTCs. As well as CS30,31,38 and 39 you should hold CS41 and have an E trailer licence. in return our client is offering basic weekly pay of £450 to £500 with the opportunity to increase earnings through week end and even night work for highways clients. In addition employees receive 28 days paid annual leave and other benefits to include training and certification.

Our client is a large multi-disciplinary environmental practice with offices in Shropshire and Gloucestershire. They are currently looking to recruit an experienced Arboriculturist to be based in the Shropshire office, working alongside the Principal Arboriculturist, Ecologists, Landscape Architects and Archaeologists.
The main role for the successful applicant will be to undertake British Standard 5837:2005 compliant surveys, produce associated written reports including arboricultural implication assessments/method statements and provide arboricultural advice both internally and to clients on development related projects. In fulfilment of this role the successful candidate will have good report-writing skills and be able to work both independently as well as part of a team. The ability to communicate both in written and verbal form at a technical level with colleagues and wider project teams is essential.
Applicants should have a demonstrable and thorough working knowledge of British Standard 5837:2005 and be competent in tree identification, inspection and stipulation of management recommendations.
Applicants should hold the equivalent to an FdSc or higher in Arboriculture and be a member of the ICF or AA with aspirations to becoming chartered. Salary is negotiable and will be based on experience.

They are currently looking to recruit a Lead Climber to replace an employee who is leaving to go travelling. Work is generally local to the yard in west London, but can involve some work in south and north London.
