Our client is a large national utility contractor providing engineering and vegetation management services to electricity distributor network operators (DNO) in several areas of the UK. They employ more than 500 staff nationally. Their ability to deliver overhead electricity and vegetation services simultaneously using directly employed staff is unique and it enables clients to achieve a reduced number of shutdowns.
Our client has recently been awarded a vegetation management contract by electricity distributor, UK Power Networks. The new contract requires them to clear and maintain trees and vegetation wherever they grow close to the power network in London and the south east. This prevents trees from becoming a cause of power cuts and ensures the continuing safety of the public. They have been a contractor to UK Power Networks for more than 20 years. The new contract is for a term of up to 12 years.
The increase in work load means they are looking to engage some new staff to include at least one UA 5 qualified Utility Surveyor. The role will initially be engaged on a fix term contract for either 6 months or 12 months TBC to cover the Oxford area contracts. Candidates should ideally have experience of working in the utility arb sector and be good communicators; able to deal effectively with land owners and other stake holders.
In return they are offering a salary circa 25 -28k pa, plus 31 day paid annual leave and a company van.
