Our client was established in 1981 as a Landscape Contractor and has subsequently diversified into tree clearance for construction sites (with resulting bio-fuel and mulch supply services) and also a semi-mature tree nursery. The company has a large yard and nursery in Buckinghamshire from which it operates throughout the midlands and south east with the largest fleet of tree moving machinery in the UK.
They are currently looking to appoint an ambitious Business Development Manager to accelerate the growth of their mechanised Tree and Vegetation Clearance service, principally in the civil engineering/construction market. The Business Development Manager will need to quickly develop an in-depth understanding of the customers business in order to effectively identify solutions that fit well with the project's needs. To be considered for this role you must be a stand-alone, self-sufficient, hardworking, self-motivated and results driven individual with at least three years B2B sales experience.
The candidate will ideally have some, but not necessarily all, of the following:
A University Degree in a relevant subject.
At least three years practical work experience in a similar role
Experienced in selling into a competitive market
Strong account building and management skills
Good knowledge of the Civil engineering/Construction procurement process
Rail or utility experience would be useful too.
Personal relationship builder with the ability to prioritise workload and balance demands from numerous sources to ensure that all stakeholder needs are met
Target and bonus driven
Takes responsibility for own actions with a tenacious approach to delivery, quality of output and organisation
Able to work in a pressurised environment with a strong sense of urgency and purpose
